Terms of Use & License Agreement

These terms cover both this website and the PII Shield desktop application. By downloading, installing or using the app you agree to them. This is a plain-language draft — [CLIENT: have counsel review and set the governing law before launch.]

1. The license

PII Shield is licensed, not sold. Your purchase grants a one-time, perpetual, non-exclusive license to install and use the app on one device at a time (node-locked). You may deactivate the license on one device and activate it on another. The license does not expire; free updates are provided within the same major version.

2. Free trial

The app may be used free for 14 days with full functionality, no account and no key. The trial is anchored to your device; reinstalling does not reset it. After the trial, a valid license is required to continue using the anonymization features.

3. What you may not do

  • Resell, rent, sublicense or distribute the app or your license key.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or circumvent the licensing or trial mechanisms, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Use the app to break the law or infringe others’ rights.

4. Your responsibility & the “no guarantee” clause

PII Shield is a tool to help you find and remove personal data, combining an AI detection model with pattern rules and a human review step. Automated detection is not perfect and can miss or mis-classify data. You are responsible for reviewing the findings and verifying the output before you share or rely on it. We do not warrant that the app will detect or remove every piece of personal data, and the app is not a substitute for professional, legal or compliance advice.

5. Payments, taxes & refunds

Purchases are processed by our checkout provider (Merchant of Record), which handles payment and applicable taxes/VAT and issues your key. Price: €99, one-time. Refund terms are set at checkout — see the license provider’s policy. [CLIENT: confirm the refund window and link the provider’s policy.]

6. Updates

We may provide updates, including detection-model updates. Updates within your major version are included. Future major versions may be offered as a separate purchase or optional paid upgrade.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grigorii Moskalev will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the license.
